The Nurses role in the Assisted Reproduction treatment

Our main mission is to accompany the woman and the couple throughout the treatment, which usually tends to last over time. The nursing professionals are the ones who, once the treatment has been decided by the medical specialist, thoroughly report the details of the treatment. We facilitate its accessibility, we provide the time to discuss the needs related to the treatment, we arrange the space avoiding “hallway” communication, thus creating a pleasant environment that preserves the privacy of the patient. We educate on the self-administration of medication (injections) and the responsibility they have for their self-care, we try to emotionally support patients by increasing their  satisfaction.

Also, we manage documents (reports and tests), that all informed consents are confirmed and that all the material that will be used during the treatments is available. We also manage protocols (healthcare homogeneity), such as waiting lists, facilitating the availability of schedules to suit the patient’s needs (many appointments in a short time).

Finally, the Nursing consultation coordinates with the rest of the units (psychology, anesthesia, doctor consultations) and with the genetics laboratory, attending to patients in the first phase of care (therapeutic evaluation) and in the second (treatment) . In short, the function and objective of the nurse is based on the continuous comprehensive assistance of assisted reproduction.
